Community News: Anaia Kakulas receives UWA scholarship following 99.95 ATAR achievement

On behalf of the Hellenic Community of Western Australia, we wish to congratulate Anaia Kakulas for scoring a perfect 99.95 ATAR.

Anaia, an alumna of Methodist Ladies’ College and a high-achieving student of Greek heritage, studied French, Maths Specialist, Maths Methods, Chemistry and English Literature in her Western Australian Curriculum Examinations (WACE) last year.

External to school, she also completed a Certificate III of Dance and Diploma of French. Additionally, she was the winner of the Lester Prize Youth Award for the Years 11 & 12 category, a national art competition.

She has since accepted an offer for the Assured Pathway to Doctor of Medicine at the University of Western Australia (UWA).

She is a recipient of the UWA Fogarty Foundation Scholarship, which is considered one of Australia’s premier scholarship programs awarded to high-achieving students who use their skills, abilities and commitment to lead positive change in their community.

Speaking to Neos Kosmos, she hopes to one day “make a meaningful impact on other people and to help improve other people’s lives”.

Beyond grades, Anaia is a passionate community-focused individual.

In 2025, she received the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Gold level, completing over 150 hours of community service across the last couple of years. Her volunteer work included visiting people living with disability to establishing a free tutoring program to support students in a low socioeconomic school.
