A Term of Growth, Opportunity and Community: Reflections from the Acting Principal
July 2, 2026

As we reach the end of another busy and rewarding term, I have been reflecting on the many moments that have made Term 2 such a memorable chapter in the life of St. Andrew’s Grammar.
From the classroom to the sporting field, from the stage to the wider community, our students have embraced every opportunity with enthusiasm, resilience and a genuine desire to grow. It has been a privilege to witness their achievements and to see the values of our school lived out each day.
Academic excellence remained a strong focus throughout the term, with students engaging in a range of enriching learning opportunities including Discovery Day, the RACI WA Titration Competition and the Careers Expo, encouraging curiosity, critical thinking and exploration of future pathways. Students also demonstrated impressive creativity, scientific understanding and inquiry skills through projects such as the Year 5.1 Enviro-Bot presentations, showcasing strong research, problem-solving, teamwork, design and presentation skills. These experiences reinforced that education extends well beyond the classroom and that curiosity remains one of our greatest strengths.

Our commitment to holistic education was equally evident through the breadth of opportunities available to students across music, performing arts and sport. From outstanding band concerts and the IPSHA Battle of the Bands to cross country carnivals, inter-house debating and chess competitions and football achievements at both state and national levels, ACC and ISPHA carnivals our students demonstrated not only talent but also dedication, teamwork and outstanding sportsmanship.

One of the highlights of the term was the remarkable success of our students at the GOAANSE Championships in Sydney. Across multiple sports and the performing arts, they represented St. Andrew’s Grammar with tremendous pride, determination and respect, bringing home numerous championships while creating lifelong memories and friendships. Their achievements are a testament to the countless hours of preparation by both students and staff, and we could not be prouder of the way they represented our school community.

As a school founded on faith, culture and community, Term 2 also provided many opportunities to honour our heritage and strengthen our connections. We commemorated significant occasions including ANZAC Day, the Battle of Crete and the Pontian Genocide, ensuring our students continue to understand the importance of remembrance, service and gratitude. Our participation in the Feast Day celebrations of Saints Constantine and Helene further reinforced the richness of our Hellenic identity and the importance of preserving our traditions for future generations.

Community has always been one of our greatest strengths, and this term was filled with opportunities to come together. Whether welcoming families to our Year 7 Parent Breakfast, celebrating Mother’s Day across our Early Learning Centre and Primary School, supporting Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, or working alongside the City of Stirling through our HOPE Club planting initiative, our students continued to demonstrate compassion, generosity and a willingness to make a positive difference.

There were also countless moments that brought joy to everyday school life. Our Year 6 Camp encouraged students to step outside their comfort zones, Olympic Day celebrated participation and perseverance, while our final Pyjama Day provided a fun and fitting conclusion to a term filled with learning, laughter and connection.

This term, a positive behaviour and engagement initiative was implemented with our Year 9 cohort to recognise students who consistently demonstrated high standards of attitude, behaviour and engagement in their learning. Students were rewarded with a session of music, pizza and opportunities to collaborate and celebrate their achievements together. The initiative highlighted the positive attitudes, respect and dedication to learning demonstrated by students and will continue to be expanded across other year levels in the future.

Our Year 12 students, our oldest cohort and leaders of the school, embraced a fantastic Spirit Week designed to strengthen connections, build year group spirit and create lasting memories together. Throughout the week, students participated in a range of dress-up themes, bringing enthusiasm, creativity and plenty of energy while also raising funds in support of teen mental health initiatives.
The celebrations started with a Year 12 Movie Night held in the gym, where students enjoyed a fun evening together complete with plenty of popcorn and a relaxed atmosphere. To top off the week, students also took on staff in a highly anticipated dodgeball match, creating lots of laughter, excitement and friendly competition.
It was wonderful to see our Year 12 students enjoying time together, strengthening relationships and creating positive experiences during their final year of schooling. These opportunities are an important part of building a strong sense of belonging and celebrating the journey of our graduating class.

None of these achievements happen by chance. They are only possible through the dedication of our outstanding staff, the unwavering support of our families and the enthusiasm of our students. Together, we continue to foster an environment where every child is encouraged to pursue excellence, discover their passions and grow into confident, compassionate young people.
As we head into the holiday break, I encourage all members of our community to take time to rest, recharge and enjoy time with family and friends. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in Term 3, ready to embrace new opportunities, celebrate new achievements and continue building on the wonderful momentum we have created together.
Thank you to our entire St. Andrew’s Grammar community for making Term 2 such an inspiring and successful one. I wish you all a safe, restful and enjoyable holiday, and I look forward to seeing everyone back for another exciting term.
