Our Committee
Our committee embodies the vision and dedication of the Hellenic Community of Western Australia, with each member bringing a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to preserving our Greek heritage, supporting our programs, and guiding our community’s growth. Together, they ensure our schools, church, aged care, and community services thrive and stay aligned with our values and goals, serving with integrity, leading with purpose, and working tirelessly to keep our community connected, inclusive, and forward-focused.
Paul Savvas is the Chief Executive Officer of the Hellenic Community of Western Australia, the Hellenic Community Benevolent Association, and St Andrew’s Grammar. A former St Andrew’s Grammar student and Murdoch University graduate with degrees in Law and Commerce, Paul brings legal expertise, governance experience, and a strong commitment to the Greek Orthodox community. With over a decade of service on community management and advisory committees, he is dedicated to strengthening both education and aged care within the organisation. Outside of his professional role, Paul enjoys family time, fishing, and soccer.
Mr Paul Afkos OAM is the longest-serving post-war President of the Hellenic Community of Western Australia, the Hellenic Community Benevolent Association, and St Andrew’s Grammar, having led across two terms (1995–2005 and 2020–present). As Managing Director of Afkos Industries in Australia and Greece and co-founder of Perth Glory Soccer Club, he has made significant contributions to both business and sport. Recognised with the Order of Australia Medal and the Prime Minister’s Centenary of Federation Medal, Mr Afkos is widely respected for his leadership in cultural preservation, education, and community wellbeing.
Effie Mazgaltzidis is Vice President of the Hellenic Community of Western Australia, the Hellenic Community Benevolent Association, and St Andrew’s Grammar. With nearly three decades of experience at Hellenic Community Aged Care, she is deeply committed to community service and cultural preservation. Effie is recognised for her leadership and dedication to fostering connection across generations, while outside of her roles she enjoys family, travel, and gardening.
Emmanuel is Sthe ecretary of the Hellenic Community of Western Australia, the Hellenic Community Benevolent Association, and St Andrew’s Grammar and the Chairperson of the Building Sub-committee Board. With a background in marketing, graphic design in Greece and Australia, property and building, business and project management and importing innovative products from Japan brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to assist the community. With over 10 years of serving on community management and advisory committees in the roles of Treasurer, Secretary and President he brings vast experience working as a dedicated member to promote the values within the organisation. Outside of his professional role, Emmanuel enjoys family time, travelling, fitness, sports fencing, football and comedy.
Dennis (Sakis) Pilarinos is Treasurer of the Hellenic Community of Western Australia, the Hellenic Community Benevolent Association, and St Andrew’s Grammar. A life member of the HCWA, he has been recognised for his longstanding service and commitment to good governance. For over 40 years, Saki has also been a Greek radio broadcaster with 6EBA, sharing music, news, and current affairs, reflecting his passion for culture and community connection.
Damien Tsokos is serving his second term on the committees of the Hellenic Community of Western Australia, the Hellenic Community Benevolent Association, and St Andrew’s Grammar. Combining professional expertise with entrepreneurial drive, he brings innovation and fresh insight to governance and community development. Beyond his committee roles, Damien works as an agentic AI architect, is building a collectibles e-commerce business, and enjoys bodybuilding, camping, and trading card collecting.
Anna Smilovitis serves on the committees of the Hellenic Community of Western Australia, the Hellenic Community Benevolent Association, and St Andrew’s Grammar. With a background in business management, real estate, and community engagement, she brings a practical and people-focused perspective to her role. Anna also hosts the Hellenic Community podcast and contributes to community radio, using these platforms to connect and uplift the Greek diaspora. Bilingual in English and Greek, she is known for her warmth, professionalism, and dedication to community wellbeing.
Harry Navrozidis is a returning committee member of the Hellenic Community of Western Australia, the Hellenic Community Benevolent Association, and the St Andrew’s Grammar School Board, having previously served two terms. A skilled stonemason, he is recognised for his dedication to community service and currently serves as President of both the Pontian Brotherhood of St George (WA) and the Australian Federation of Pontian Associations. Harry is a familiar presence at cultural events and initiatives, valued for his hands-on approach and commitment to preserving Pontian heritage.
Stella Milenko is a newly appointed committee member of the Hellenic Community of Western Australia (HCWA), the Hellenic Community Benevolent Association Inc. (HCBA), and the St Andrew’s Grammar School Board (SAG Inc.).With a warm and approachable nature, Stella brings energy, enthusiasm, and a strong community spirit to her role. Her professional background spans hairdressing, retail, and real estate, where her people-first approach and dedication to service have been key to her success.Passionate about connection, Stella enjoys sharing her love of food and football with those around her, often weaving both into her community involvement.
Gina Vatistas is in her third year as a committee member of the Hellenic Community of Western Australia, the Hellenic Community Benevolent Association, and the St Andrew’s Grammar School Board. Passionate about her heritage and faith, she is dedicated to preserving cultural and religious traditions for future generations. As a self-employed retail professional, Gina is known for her caring nature, strong interpersonal skills, and willingness to support community initiatives. Outside of her roles, she enjoys power walking, fashion, beauty, and cooking for family and friends.
Peter Vatistas is in his third year as a committee member of the Hellenic Community of Western Australia, the Hellenic Community Benevolent Association, and the St Andrew’s Grammar School Board. A proud Greek Australian, he is dedicated to giving back to the community and supporting initiatives that preserve and promote Hellenic heritage. Self-employed in the fresh produce industry, Peter is valued for his energy, reliability, and cultural pride. Outside of his roles, he enjoys running, sports, and Greek music.
Spiro has been a dedicated committee member for over three years and brings more than three decades of experience in the Information Technology industry. Currently working as a Network Engineer at Neontech, he supports complex business I.T. environments across a wide range of industries. With a background spanning project engineering, service delivery, and authorised repairs for major tech brands, he also enjoys innovative hobbies such as electronic design, robotics, 3D printing, woodworking, and fishing.
Dimitrios (Jim) Tsokos serves on the committees of the Hellenic Community of Western Australia, the Hellenic Community Benevolent Association and St. Andrew’s Grammar. With a background in business management in the education and non-profit sectors, he brings his expertise in operational initiatives to his role on the committee. Outside of his professional endeavours, Jim enjoys sports (with a leaning towards soccer, cricket and football) and spending time with his family.
